MainPower's lines business is perceived by the Government as having monopoly characteristics, and as such government believes that it is in the public's interest to regulate the business. There are a number of regulations that we must comply with, supervised by a number of different government bodies such as the Electricity Authority, The Commerce Commission and The Ministry of Economic Development in particular.
The regulations under which MainPower operates relate to maintaining service quality and managing prices (the Thresholds), and to provide information in the form of disclosures of our financial and operational performance, and our long term plans to manage and continue to maintain the electricity network in our region.
